Im Mittelalter sammelten haupts\u00e4chlich Adelige, Geistliche und Gelehrte seltene alte Gegenst\u00e4nde und stellten diese in Wunderkammern oder Naturalienkabinetten aus. Der Handel mit Antiquit\u00e4ten entwickelte sich von Lumpensammlern bis hin zum modernen Antiquit\u00e4tenh\u00e4ndler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EPOCHEN UND STILE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In den Kulturkreisen Amerika, Asien und Afrika gelten andere Epochenbezeichnungen als in Europa. Zu bedenken ist, dass sich die Stile bei M\u00f6beln und Beiwerk nicht immer gleichlaufend mit den Baustilen entwickelt haben; oftmals sp\u00e4ter zum Teil auch unter anderen Bezeichnungen. Man kann Antiquit\u00e4ten durch die Betrachtung der handwerklichen Details unterscheiden, wobei sich Beginn und Ende einzelner Stilepochen nicht eindeutig auf bestimmte Jahre festlegen lassen. Teilweise wurden Details der vorherigen Epoche \u00fcbernommen. Neues wurde oft als Gegensatz zum Vorherigen entwickelt und es kam zu einer Hochbl\u00fcte eines Stils. So sind Jahresangaben f\u00fcr den Beginn oder das Ende einer Epoche nur eine Art Rahmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch urspr\u00fcnglich ganz allt\u00e4gliche Gebrauchsgegenst\u00e4nde wie z.B. K\u00fcchenger\u00e4te k\u00f6nnen mit entsprechendem Alter gesuchte Antiquit\u00e4ten sein. Viele Antiquit\u00e4tenh\u00e4ndler haben sich im Laufe der Zeit auf einige wenige Stilrichtungen oder Antiquit\u00e4tengattungen z.B.
